I don&#8217;t know that we can expect to be a balm for all wounds. Yet I am haunted by Etty&#8217;s willingness to pour herself out: how she lavished her words upon the page and her attention upon the world. How she did this with abandon and without losing herself. In this season, in this life, how will we do this? How will we pour ourselves out with an extravagance that will become a balm for a wounded world?<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Bearing\/Baring<\/em><br \/>\nto Etty<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">In bearing witness<br \/>\nyou bared the truth<br \/>\nthe heart<br \/>\nthe soul<br \/>\nof the times.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Forged in the depths<br \/>\nof a fire-filled heart,<br \/>\nyour daily truths<br \/>\nwere olives<br \/>\npressed to oil,<br \/>\ngrapes<br \/>\ncrushed to wine.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The brutes laid you bare<br \/>\nto your very bones<br \/>\nbut could not stave<br \/>\nthe words you bore:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">the balm for wounds<br \/>\nthe cup of grace<br \/>\npoured out and mingling<br \/>\nfor <em>tikkun olam<\/em><br \/>\nfor the healing of<br \/>\nthese broken vessels.<\/p>\n<p><em>Adapted from <strong>Sacred Journeys<\/strong> \u00a9 Jan L.
